Accidental Death & Dismemberment
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance pays a predetermined amount if a covered accident results in your death. It may also pay benefits for a severe physical loss, such as a hand, a foot or your eyesight. These benefits can ease the burden of paying for specialized care and modified living arrangements.
How it Works

-
Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides a cash benefit if you or a covered dependent experiences a covered accidental death or certain serious injuries resulting from an accident.
-
-
If a covered accident results in death, the policy pays the selected benefit amount to your designated beneficiary. If a covered accident causes a qualifying permanent loss—such as the loss of a hand, foot, or eyesight—the policy may pay a full or partial benefit, depending on the type of loss.
-
You choose your coverage amount during enrollment: -
Employee coverage: In $10,000 increments, up to $500,000 (or 5 times your annual salary, whichever is less)
-
Spouse coverage: In $5,000 increments, up to 100% of your elected employee coverage
-
Child coverage: In $2,000 increments, up to $20,000

-
AD&D insurance can help provide financial support for expenses that may arise after a serious accident, such as medical care, rehabilitation, home modifications, or other unexpected costs. It is designed to complement your life insurance coverage and only pays benefits for covered accidental losses.
